Hymn of the Week: “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less”
Our hymn of the week was written in 1834 by Edward Mote. This week we will sing it with a different tune than we usually hear it led by the praise band.

“Jesus Loves Me” is a hymn written by Anna Bartlett Warner (1827–1915). The lyrics first appeared as a poem in the context of an 1860 novel called Say and Seal, written by her older sister Susan Warner (1819–1885), in which the words were spoken as a comforting poem to a dying child.

Summer is the season we Americans celebrate our freedom. The season begins with our remembering, on Memorial Day, those who died in many wars in order to win and preserve our nation’s freedom. We join family and friends for picnics and shoot off fireworks on Independence Day to celebrate “liberty and justice for all.” It is truly a blessing to live in a nation that offers most of us so much freedom.
