Story of the Week – Men’s Retreat

The fourth annual Spirit of Joy Men’s Retreat was held on September 16th and 17th and proved to be a relaxing and reflective time for our ten attendees. Among the retreat veterans, new partners Wayne Booze and Larry Brendtro joined us this year. We were all grateful for a chance to get to know them better.
Friday night began with burgers and pie provided by Dick Sorum and Luke Schwingler as well as sides, chips, and beverages brought by everyone else. Dinner was followed by an introductory discussion on the parable of the sower led by Sam Eisele and a social hour before bed.
The next morning we awoke to Bill Webb’s famous pancake breakfast and a breath of fresh air from NeSoDak’s newly constructed deck before diving back into the parable. After a thought-provoking conversation, we were treated to a relaxing pontoon boat ride and a wonderful lunch provided by the NeSoDak staff. The afternoon was spent making improvements to the NeSoDak grounds and deck before meeting once more for worship and reflection with Pastor Jeff.
As always, the Men’s Retreat introduced us to new friends and new ideas and gave the men of Spirit of Joy a chance to be still and know that God is working in each of our lives. We’re already looking forward to next year.
