Bold Service

What does Bold Service mean to Spirit of Joy?

Just as our church’s current memory verse, Matthew 22:36-40 “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with you all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”‘, we live out this message through our value of Bold Service. We believe that caring for our neighbors locally, regionally, and globally is what God guides us to do with deeply compassionate, open hearts and hands.

  • Stacking quarters at Laundry with Love
  • Boxing food at Food to You
  • Making pancakes at the Banquet
  • Worshiping with Church on the Street members in a park or gym
  • Generously collecting food, necessities or offering to help support our ministry partners

We also provide financial support to organizations that we are not able to have a consistent physical presence with, but to whom God has led us to help.

Value Crossover:

Even through bold service we naturally incorporate many of the other values of Spirit of Joy. We express extravagant generosity through allotting a portion of funds collected during large campaigns to ministry partners’ projects.

When serving, it is easy to see the radical hospitality that is extended to others in attendance. This not only helps support our greater community members, but our partners on their own lifelong faith journey too as they serve and learn.
