Why is the church community important to you?

We need each other. God said to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbors as yourselves.” In community we are called to welcome, accept, love and care for others. We share Christ with one another as we worship, teach, witness, pray for and help one another. I, personally, am grateful for people in this community who have walked with me through joys and trials of life and who welcome me to accompany them on their journeys.

What was an important Jesus moment in your life?

My dad died on Christmas Eve 2014.The finality of his death was so painful, but in the midst of our grief was a profound awareness that we were not alone. As our family gathered to share memories, pray and sing, we mourned the loss of Dad to dementia, gave thanks for his life and lived more deeply into the promises of the Savior born to us. The words of familiar Christmas carols jumped off the page—words that we know and love, but full of resurrection promise that I’d overlooked before: “The hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight”…”Bless all the dear children in your tender care and fit us for heaven, to live with you there.” …”Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice: now ye need not fear the grave; Jesus Christ was born to save!” Christ is born. Christ is risen. Alleluia!

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had?

The cable car excursion over the Alps from Chamonix, France to Point Helbronner,Italy was exhiliaring! The panoramic views of the snow-covered peaks followed by a beautiful hike and delicious cuisine was a delightful way to feast upon the gifts of God’s creation.

If you could sit down and have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be?

One of my favorite rituals is to gather at the table to feast upon delicious food and stirring conversation. If I could choose anyone to dine with, it would be my husband, Paul, and our three daughters and their spouses. When we gather at the table, it is abundant gift!

What is your favorite show and why?

Modern Family is a great way for me to relax. This family shows us the comic, foibles, and grace in each of our families with honesty and humor.
