What was an important Jesus moment in your life?
The biggest and most important Jesus moment in my life was the baptism of my son, Noah. I have had a lot of opportunities to share God’s love with others, but something about getting to share that with my son felt extra special. It was an overwhelming feeling of responsibility, excitement and joy! In that moment I couldn’t wait to grow and walk in faith with my son, with Jesus as our guide.
What is your favorite movie and why?
I love just about any musical, but “Fiddler on the Roof” is probably my favorite. I love the music and the story is beautiful. If I watch the movie, I’ll be singing the songs for days. I also love the way Tevye talks to God. There’s something beautiful about how natural the relationship is for him.
If your family/friends had to describe you in 3 words, what would they be?
So I literally took a poll of family and friends to answer this one. Just a little PSA…if you’re ever in need of a warm fuzzy, shoot this question out to people who love you…it’s the best! So the most common three answers were: Caring, real (down to earth), and funny. I’ll take it!!
If you could sit down and have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be?
If I could sit down with anyone for dinner it would Pope Francis. I find him fascinating and I’m continually impressed and astounded with his honest and heartfelt words. I appreciate his willingness to go against the grain and say what he thinks is right. Shouldn’t that be what we all do? I think he’s a profound religious leader and I appreciate what he’s doing for the Christian faith, and the world.
Why is the church community important to you?
I feel as though the Spirit of Joy community has become more and more important to me the older I get. I think as a youth you aren’t as aware of the prayers and support you’re receiving from the community as a whole. After I had my son, I was overwhelmed by the love and kindness showed to me by all the partners of Spirit of Joy. As a “newer” parent it gives me great comfort to know that in the midst of the hustle and bustle, the stresses, the joys, the milestones, and the failures in life, I have people praying the prayers that I sometimes forget to pray or simply can’t find the energy to pray in my sleep-deprived state. The communion of saints truly is a beautiful thing!
