2013

Preschool Task Force is organized

2015

Preschool Task Force decides an independent preschool is the best fit for Spirit of Joy. Congregational vote approves the formation of preschool.

2016

August: Preschool Advisory Team is organized and begins meetings

September: Amy Cauble is hired to be the Developer and Director of Spirit of Joy Preschool

December: Enrollment opens for the fall 2016 school year

2017

September 6: First day of preschool at Spirit of Joy starts with 16 students enrolled. Two classes are offered for 3-5 year-olds.

2018

May: Seventeen students complete the first year of preschool

September: Another class is added for the 2018-2019 school year, bringing the total class offerings to three.

2019

Kindermusik curriculum is added

2020

March: COVID pandemic closes in-person preschool for the remainder of the year. Preschool learning continues with a remote library, director delivered Easter activities, recorded greetings from the director, emailed lesson activities for at-home learning, and a drive through graduation ceremony in the parking lot.

September: Preschool hours are extended to 8am-12pm, with a drop off & pick up buffer time

2021

New playhouse for the playground built by Spirit of Joy partners

2022

Hope Coalition partnership and transportation now offered
